What is RESET Breathwork and why is it such a big deal?
RESET Breathwork is a conscious-connected breathing pattern done solely through the mouth involving two deep breaths into the belly, the heart, and a passive exhale. This practice supports you in tapping into your subconscious mind which is responsible for 95% of your brainpower, somatically processing any stuck emotions and experiences, RESETING your entire nervous system and transforming into your most authentic self.
Physiologically speaking, how can RESET Breathwork facilitate healing in my body?
The lungs are the only organ in the body with voluntary and involuntary control. Powerful use of the diaphragmatic breath activates the parasympathetic nervous system through the Vagus Nerve to deep parts of our subconscious mind and body. The heart is considered the “first brain” and it directly influences the nervous system. The heart sends signals of love, compassion and grace to the brain which directly impacts how we perceive and react to the world.
What would I actually be doing during a RESET Breathwork session?
First I will guide you in an opening meditation, supporting you in setting an intention for your practice. You will be laying down with your eyes closed. Then I will guide you in the RESET Breath for 25-30 minutes while listening to music. I will guide you in saying aloud affirmations throughout the practice. You will rest for a final song while returning to nasal breathing. Finally, I will guide you in a grounding meditation and support you in transitioning back to the present moment.
What might I experience physically and emotionally during breathwork?
During the RESET Breath, you may experience some cramping in your extremities and jaw due to hyper-oxygenating your body. If this happens, focusing on passive exhales which will naturally soften cramping. You may experience moments of lightheaded and dizziness. You may notice that you feel hot or cold so it can be helpful to have a blanket nearby. You may experience a rollercoaster of emotions and maybe even visions. I invite you to allow whatever you are experiencing to move through you. By the end, you will feel light, free, clear, peace and calm.
Why do I feel like a new person after breathwork?
Neurons that fire together wire together. In our nervous system there are strong pathways connecting to our positive belief system and weak pathways connecting to our negative belief system ex: “I am enough” versus “I am not good enough.” The brain keeps a record of our past. The stronger the somatic body experience, the more neurons that are recruited together. That’s how we heal from those negative beliefs that have been keeping us stuck.
Is RESET Breathwork is safe for me to do?
If you have a history of Cardiovascular Disease, Angina, Heart Attacks, High Blood Pressure, Glaucoma, Retinal Detachment, Osteoporosis, Significant Injuries, Recent Surgery, Seizures, Aneurysms, or untreated severe mental illness, please consult with your doctor PRIOR to participating in RESET Breathwork. This practice is not recommended if you are pregnant. If you are unsure whether this RESET breathwork practice is the right fit for you, please breathe solely in and out through the nose at a normal pace. You will still have a powerful experience.
